🎡 Lego Robotics: Amusement Park Engineering – Design, Build, Ride!

The park is open, and your child built it.

This week, campers become amusement park engineers. Using LEGO robotics, they design and program the rides, attractions, and automated systems that make a real theme park run. Ferris wheels that spin. Pirate ships that rock. A snack stand that only opens when you show the right ticket. Every ride is a real engineering challenge, and every line of code makes the park come alive.

The week ends with the ultimate finale: teams combine all their builds into one fully working, fully automated amusement park,  and present it to the group.

What campers will engineer this week:

  • 🎠 Carousel & Ferris Wheel – Master circular and vertical rotation, programming speed, direction, and precision stopping
  • 🏴‍☠️ Pirate Ship Ride – Engineer pendulum-style swinging motion with timed swing cycles
  • 🎟️ Automated Snack Stand / Entry Gate – Use color sensors to detect "tickets" and trigger motors — the gate only opens for the right color!
  • 🎡 Theme Park Showcase – Combine every build into one unified, working park complete with LED signage and sound effects

Campers will develop key STEAM skills as they explore:

  • Motor & Motion Control – Programming rotation, speed, and directional movement
  • Sensor Integration – Using color and distance sensors to automate real-world interactions
  • Loops & Sequences – Building multi-step automation that runs continuously
  • Systems Thinking – Understanding how individual parts work together as one connected system
  • Engineering Design – Building structures sturdy enough to actually perform the way they're programmed

Campers are grouped by age and experience — younger builders and advanced engineers each work with age-appropriate kits and challenges to make sure everyone is pushed just right.
