2026 Summer Camp
đŦ Animation Design: Code Your Story – Characters, Scenes & Interactive Adventures
Every great story needs a world. This week, campers build theirs.
Animation Design camp is where creative storytelling meets coding. Using MIT Scratch, campers design original characters, animated scenes, and interactive stories that move, speak, and respond, all brought to life through block-based programming. It's not quite a game, not quite a movie, it's something even cooler: a living, breathing story that the audience can actually interact with.
No experience needed. Just a story to tell and the curiosity to bring it to life.
What campers will create this week:
- đ¨ Character Design – Draw and animate original characters with their own movements, expressions, and voices
- đ Scene Building – Design rich backgrounds and environments that set the stage for the story
- đŦ Dialogue & Storytelling – Code characters to speak, react, and move through a narrative that campers write themselves
- đšī¸ Interactive Elements – Add game-like features — clickable objects, choices, surprises — that let the audience shape the story
- đŦ Story Showcase – The week ends with a screening where every camper presents their interactive story to the group
Campers will develop key STEAM skills as they explore:
- Animation & Motion – Bringing characters and scenes to life through code
- Sequencing & Timing – Controlling when things happen and in what order
- Creative Writing – Designing characters, plot, and dialogue with intention
- Computational Thinking – Using logic and programming to make the story respond and interact
- Debugging – Fixing the moments when the story doesn't quite go as planned
Campers are grouped by age and experience so every storyteller, from first-time coders to returning Scratch users — creates something they're genuinely proud of.
